Musical Director: Roy Osborne CT ABRSM |
|

Roy was appointed as MD to Highley Colliery Band in February
2011. Roy has been associated with the band for several
years now, deputising on Soprano cornet at many concerts. He
brings with him over 50 years of brass band experience.
Roy successfully completed a teachers instrumental training
course run by the Associated Board of the Royal School of
Music. In 1993 he passed 'Theory and History of Music'
papers to LRSM diploma level through an Open University
course. In 1997 he joined the National Association of Brass
Band Conductors.
His banding days started in 1958, playing 3rd cornet for
Bromsgrove Town Band. His musical career took him on to play
Soprano cornet for Quarry Bank Silver Prize Band which, over
several years, sponsors and name changes became Banks's
Brewery Championship Section Band. He left Banks's in 1988
and eventually joined Stourport on Severn Brass Band. Roy
continues to enjoy playing Soprano cornet when not
conducting the band.
